A native of New York City, Rachel Azrak is an experienced flute performer and educator. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Performance (with minors in Communications and History) from Case Western Reserve University in 2007. Ms. Azrak then completed the Post-Baccalaureate Music Teacher’s Licensure Program at Cleveland State University before enrolling at The Boston Conservatory where she received her Master of Music Performance and her Graduate Performance Diploma under the tutelage of Linda Toote.

Ms. Azrak has been teaching for over ten years and has experience providing instruction to students ages 6-70 and of varying abilities. She is employed full time as the Elementary Music Teacher at Boston Higashi School for Students with Autism in Randolph, MA and specializes in adaptive pedagogical techniques for students with special needs.

Ms. Azrak also has extensive performance experience as principal, second flute, and piccolo in orchestras, concerts, and ensembles. She currently hold the position as Principal Piccoloist with The Boston Civic Symphony. In the past she has played with The Boston Conservatory Orchestras, Tufts University Composition Concerts, Haffner Sinfonietta, Dartmouth Wind Ensemble, and the Case/University Circle Symphony Orchestra. She was the principal flutist of the Long Island Youth Orchestra and has performed across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, and the Cook Islands with the ensemble. She has also appeared in numerous festivals, masterclasses, and conventions including the Kent/Blossom Summer Music Festival in Kent, Ohio (where she studied with both Joshua Smith and Marisela Sager of The Cleveland Orchestra), the Trevor Wye Masterclass, the Julius Baker Masterclass, and Domain Forget Masterclasses. In the summer of 2011, she was a member of “The Wye’s Guys,” a group selected to honor Trevor Wye as the pedagogue received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Flute Association convention in Charlotte, NC.
